‘Under the sea’ birthday party.

So the past week has been slightly busy preparing a ‘under the sea arts and crafts’ 6th birthday party. My youngest request created panic and fear how was I going to meet the exact brief? He is quite fussy and had quite a precise wish list – including the party must include a chocolate fish birthday cake (Birthday cakes are always a challenge due to older son allergies, I don’t particularly enjoy baking and have you ever tried to find a safe fun kids birthday cake which is free of may contain – its not possible: this one was made by me to ensure nut/egg free).

As you are probably aware from other blogs he loves the sea, sea creatures and boats. Lucky for me pin interest and Baker Ross came to the rescue with a few ideas to inspire. This was his first proper birthday party with his chosen friends (as he has normally opted for a day out or we have had a small family/friends get together) and I really wanted to make it special! My eldest son always seems to get the extra attention in general despite our determination to give them equal so I guess I was very much led by mummy guilt. Made easier by the facts I love Arts and Crafts. The result were :

Pass the parcel.

I can now sigh a sigh of relief as the party received positive feedback, appeared a great success and all children enjoyed leaving proud with their Art work.

GOD am I glad it’s all over and they only have birthdays once a year!!

All individual handmade projects will be posted to the project section in time for anyone interested in giving them ago.

Not just arts and crafts!

Hi with the rain come back to haunt us and Scarlett fever! We have been stuck in doors! Both boys are really into science at the moment

Curious minds!

So to pass the time we have been revisiting some of our old favourite science experiments and some new. The boys are really curious about volcanos at the moment as they have been studying dinosaurs at school last term. So this project was by far the most exciting. They also loved the t-shirts and colour exploring. These have been added to the project section – Please take a look if you have a child with a curious mind. The aim of my website is all things ‘creative’ some of the topics to be covered in the long-term plan will be simple and affordable Arts and crafts, cooking, science, exploring play and anything else creative. with kids. More science coming along with junk modelling.

Feel free to comment, like, share and follow.

Well rainy day means one thing!

Well a wet half- term has meant non-stop madness in our house and its only Tuesday… Finally I am sat down with a hot cup of coffee ready to send some ideas your way. Hopefully to offer you some inspiration if you need it this half-term. We have had lots of fun and I truly love spending time with my boys despite the mess and chaos. So far we have managed a great but cold day out to ‘willow farm’, (I highly recommend if anyone in your house likes peter rabbit – it inspired our paper plate idea), a bike ride, a scooter ride, lots of playing and Train track building. The best thing has been my alarm clock this morning which was two boys playing imaginary play which involved Captain underpants taking over our house at 7am!!

Plus you guessed it we have been making, painting and creating!! Picasso and Van Goff have been busy in our house. These are all simple and affordable ideas, created from what we could find in our house. All ideas will be shortly posted on my project page- please bear with me, they will get there. As you can see there are quite a few, it may take some time. If your on half term enjoy the week!
